it was our mission to create an atmosphere to allow everyone present to actively engage in open worship through all styles of music. but, how do you worship? for that matter, what is worship? worship consists of acts of praise, honor and devotion directed to God. the Bible says in psalms 100:1-3:
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
we worship to show God our gratitude and wonder at all he has done for us. we can worship through songs, dancing, shouts of joy, and even by living our lives the way God wants us to.
worship is for God and is directed to him, but worship is also for us. it helps us to focus on what's happening outside ourselves and our particular problems and situations, and gives us perspective even in the middle of the darkest nights of our life. through worship, we can recognize that God is bigger than anything in our lives and that he is truly in charge, no matter what.
the music in our services was designed to point our minds in the direction of the topic of the service, whether it be setting a proper mood, evoking emotions, or playing songs which thematically apply. while there were songs included for direct congregational worship, much of our music is played to point to God through the topic of the service.
